July31st Beacon, NY Electric Windows Event by Open Space Gallery

Each day this week I will be posting info on all of the events/shows I will be taking part in this summer. The first event that I am excited to announce is Electric Windows (HERE) presented by Open Space Gallery (HERE) which takes place Saturday July 31st in Beacon, New York. The event will feature some insane talent as urban artists including Avic Tchernichovski, Big Foot, Buxtonia, Cern, Chris Stain, Chris Yormick, Depoe, Elbow Toe, Elia Gurna, Ellis G, Erik Otto, Eugene Good, Faust, Gaia, Joe Iurato, Mr Kiji, Logan Hicks, Michael De Feo, PaperMonster, Peat Wollaeger, Rick Price, Riiisa Boogie, Ron English, Ryan Bubnis, Ryan Williams, Skewville, and TC. This is an event you do not want to miss!! You will be able to meet some of your favorite artists painting massive canvases. It is a great event not just to meet the artists but to take in the beautiful city of Beacon, visit Open Space Gallery, and have a great time. Check out more info below and the show flyer:

Info via the Electric Windows Site:
"24 street artists will converge in Beacon, NY on Saturday July 31st to create live artwork and have their work installed on the exterior of a 19th century factory building. Electric Windows draws its name from the former electric blanket factory at the foot of Mount Beacon that will act as the backdrop for the event. E.W. turns the idea of a gallery inside out using the large industrial windows as frames for each artists work. Usually street art is not so easily contained in a rectangle but this installation ingeniously bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor art both inverting and subverting the concept of the art gallery. Each of the 24 pieces will be approximately 8 ft x 12 ft."

Brainstorm Magazine Issue# 11 Interviews PaperMonster

Brainstorm Magazine (HERE) Issue #11 will soon be released and I had the pleasure of being featured in an artists interview for the magazine. Past artists interviewed include Blu (HERE) and Arofish (HERE) so needless to say it feels fantastic to be asked to be featured in the magazine. The interview covers topics such as my origins, what is art, and the current state of street art. Catch some excerpts from the interview below or read it for yourself at the following link::
http://www.kolahstudio.com/Underground/?p=686
Via Brainstorm Magazine:

"We are pushing art forward and inspiring the youth to do bigger and better things to continue the movement. We have a large amount of power and it is one of the most exciting parts about being an artist today."-PaperMonster

"I have never made any paintings because I want to make anyone happy or because I need to fit into a specific category or follow rules. I make stencil art portraits of women because I want to share that beauty, strength and mystery of women. No rules or level of rejection could get me to stop what I do"-PaperMonster

Click on the images to visit the magazine and interview.

I will be posting the entire issue as soon as it is released so stay posted. Enjoy

New Banksy Inspired by LECKOmio??

This morning I stumbled on news of a new Banksy stencil on the streets in Europe and it immediately took me back to pieces that LECKOmio (HERE) had created several months ago. It may or may not be true but I feel that Banksy's newest creation may be a critique on LECKOmio's pieces and use of "graffiti slogans." You be the judge.
Catch Stefan Winterle's Piece Below as well as Banksy street piece below.

Artist Profile: A1one (Iran) Stencil Artist

----------------------------------
As artists (stencil or your preference) we all develop a desire to learn many styles and techniques. It is really what pushes us forward and A1one (HERE) is the type or artist who really brings a ton of styles together and has a powerful grasp on a wealth of skills. A1one is from Iran and amongst the current turmoil of current issues in the country A1one has captured the spirit of true public protesting and visual political messages. You can check out his fantastic work at the following link:
